Analysing the Spread of COVID-19 in Ireland

Whilst analysing the spread of COVID-19 in Europe, in the early days of January 2021, it became apparent that Ireland had the highest rate of infection in the world over a 7-day period. This came as a surprise, as during the pre-Christmas period of 2020, Ireland had some of the lowest infection rates in Europe. We decided to create a board to analyse the spread of the virus and to identify any hotspots where the virus was acutely on the rise.

Exploration and Discovery
The dashboard uses a vibrant coral colour to highlight the areas where there is an increase in the spread of the virus. This helps to quickly identify where the virus of greatest concern. There are also charts which become evident when hovering over the different counties. The charts help to visualise how the virus is spreading in a specific county as compared to the national average.
